My son Ash, who is just about to turn 6 (in a few weeks) competed in his first major gymnastics competition last weekend.
To say I was nervous, well that would be an understatement!
But he handled it like a pro!! With a fantastically supportive coach and a great team-mate he performed at his best and in a field of 20 kids up to 7 years old, Ash came 10th overall which is a brilliant result, and what is even better is that on parallel bars he came 3rd! I really could not be prouder of my little guy, so if you will bare with me for a bit, I will share some images from the day….
Ash started his comp on parallel bars
Then moved onto high bar
Next was floor
Followed by pommel horse (you can see in the 3rd picture just how small he is compared to the equipment!)
Next was the rings
Lastly he competed on vault, but unfortunately from the grandstand my view of the vault run was severely blocked, so no great pictures from vault.
But I do have a picture of a very proud coach and his two awesome little gymnasts…
The boys both earned enough points to receive red ribbons and qualify for the state championship comp in a few months time.
Let me just savour my proud mummy moment for a few more days and then I’ll let you all see what else I have been photographing.
