Beautiful Beasties is an international network of professional pet photographers, of which I am very privileged to be a part of. Within the network a group was formed for photographers who wanted to participate in a project, a 52 week project. Each week a theme is chosen and posted, then we all go out and take a photograph or series of photographs to fit the theme, then we all post onto our own websites and form a ring by linking all the websites. That means you can look at my images and then follow the links all over the world to see what other pet photographers are capturing.

The theme for week 11 is “Something Silly” chosen by Cahlean from St Cloud, Minnesota, her brief to us was – ” Something silly is the next theme! Be it googly eyes, a costume, or a silly pose, capture the silly antics of your pups, cats or any other critter! ”

Now with last weekend being a double-header horse show weekend which then means a very, very full week of editing, there was never going to be time to go out for another shoot, but luckily plenty of horses do plenty of silly things while in the show ring!

So this week, I give you – “Silly things horses do when they are supposed to be on their best behaviour”…….

Firstly on Saturday we had a Hack show, so this is what the ‘hacking’ horses got up to –

you could stop in the middle of your work out to scratch an itch…

Or you could ‘spook’ at a scary piece of sand…

You could try to be a mini giraffe…

Or you could try to be a big giraffe…

Then on Sunday it was the Western Horses turn to show what silly antics they could come up with…

You could start by being a bully and trying to run over your mini handler…

Or you could pretend to be a rodeo horse…

There is always the option of sticking your tongue out at the photographer – how rude!

You could ‘spook’ simply because, well just because…

You could have heard that the Hacks played at being giraffes and see if you can do a better giraffe impersonation…

You could even try pulling the same trick twice!…

And when under saddle you could try being a giraffe as well… I think there is a pattern forming here!!

I do have to say that ALL of these horses did redeem themselves during the shows and all went on to do very well. Big congratulations to all their handlers/riders for dealing with an animal who is way way bigger than them!

Now don’t forget this is a blog ring, so follow the links, starting with Denver pet photographer, StinkDog Photos, then keep following the links until you get back here to my Silly horses.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks theme. See you all next week
